🤎 LIFE AFTER RACING | SPACES NOW AVAILABLE 🤎

Brooklyn Ridge Equine · Balliang, Victoria

A racing career may come to an end, but there is so much more ahead for a Standardbred.

We’re opening spaces to harness racing trainers and owners seeking a thoughtful, experienced pathway into life after racing for their horses.

As a licensed harness racing trainer with my own team of racehorses, I have a deep appreciation for this beautiful breed. I specialise in educating Standardbreds both on and off the track, and helping them transition into a ridden career is something I’m incredibly passionate about.

Since establishing Brooklyn Ridge Equine, we have successfully rehomed over 50 Standardbreds—something we take enormous pride in. Behind every horse is time, patience, consistent education and a commitment to finding a well-matched home.

🌿 Individual care from the beginning

Every horse entering our program undergoes an individual assessment so we can understand their temperament, physical needs and education. Dental care, hoof care, massage and bodywork are assessed and arranged as needed, alongside any further veterinary attention required.

We want each horse comfortable, supported and ready to learn before asking them to progress.

🌿 Education with a purpose

Each horse follows a program tailored to their needs, confidence and stage of development. This includes establishing groundwork, manners and clear communication, then developing the foundations under saddle to give them the best possible start to their ridden career.

We place a strong emphasis on exposure beyond the arena. As each horse becomes ready, we introduce different environments and experiences, including trail rides, off-property outings, shows and competitions where suitable.

Our aim is to help them become confident, adaptable partners, while learning what they enjoy and the type of home in which they are most likely to thrive. Every horse progresses at their own pace.

🌿 Thoughtful rehoming

We take the time to understand our horses before they are offered for rehoming. Their temperament, education and rider suitability guide our search for a carefully matched, loving forever home.

There is so much care, effort and heart invested in these horses, and we want their next chapter to reflect that.

We welcome enquiries for:

• Standardbred mares and geldings of any age.
• Horses retiring without significant injuries that would affect a future ridden career.
• Horses needing education and support to transition into life after racing.

We are not equipped to accommodate stallions.

🌿 Transport & arrivals

Drop-off at our Balliang property is welcome and preferred. We’re also happy to discuss potential collection throughout Victoria or meeting trainers at race meetings, subject to availability and suitable arrangements.

If you’re a trainer or owner with a Standardbred approaching retirement, we’d love to hear about them and discuss whether our program would be a suitable fit.
